Lancaster, PA, April 6, 2009 - ECORE International announced that its PlayGuard Safety Surfacing tiles have been certified to ASTM F1951-08. ASTM F1951-08 is the standard test for determination of accessibility of surface systems under and around playground equipment. PlayGuard Safety Surfacing’s 2-1/2” tiles have been tested to this extent and are now certified to meet this accessibility test.

ASTM F1951-08 tested the accessibility of PlayGuard Safety Surfacing by means of their standard accessibility test fixture. This fixture tested accessibility by propelling a 222.7 pound wheelchair and its 175 pound rider across the PlayGuard surfacing. The chair was given 4 even pushes, propelling it 6.56 feet within 8 seconds. The testing was performed at the Detroit Testing Laboratory, Inc. in Warren, Michigan.
